Napoli goalkeeper Rafael is set to have surgery on a knee injury suffered on Thursday evening.
The shot-stopper had to come off at half time in the Partenopei’s 0-0 draw with Swansea in the Europa League last night.
And the club have confirmed this afternoon that the Brazilian will be out for a considerable time having been diagnosed with an anterior cruciate ligament rupture.
A statement on their official website read: “After a visit to Villa Stuart this afternoon, Rafael was found to have ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
“The goalkeeper must now undergo surgery and then we will determine the recovery time. At the moment that is not possible.”
