Alberto Malesani saw Sassuolo’s best performance of his tenure so far at Lazio, and so a lot of regrets for the defeat they picked up.
The Serie A strugglers twice equalised in Sunday evening’s League encounter at the Stadio Olimpico, only to quickly again fall behind, ultimately for a 3-2 loss.
“We have a lot of regrets, I think the draw would have been the fairest result,” considered Malesani afterwards.
“In the second half Lazio has dropped and we have taken possession in the middle of the pitch. And I was hoping for the win, but we were not lucky.
“But this is the right way, which I have seen, the work done in recent times is of note. And I would say that this has been the best game of my management.
“I said to the boys - you are playing well, you will reap the rewards.
“Berardi? He is doing well and he knows it. When he entered the field he gave a contribution that I had hoped for in other games.
“I cannot put hope on anyone, but I am counting on him, he is an important player for the team.”
