Andrea Agnelli has issued a brief statement in reaction to Juventus fans displaying banners referencing the Superga tragedy during the Turin derby.

During yesterday’s 1-0 win over city rivals Torino, Bianconero supporters displayed two banners making light of the 1949 Superga air disaster which killed 31 people including 18 Torino players.

“Tragedies are not to be touched upon,” Juve President Andrea Agnelli has responded, through a quote posted on the club’s official Twitter account.

“Never. No to the banners and the rogue chants. Everything.”

The Old Lady reportedly could face a fine and partial stadium closure as punishment for the banners.
