Cagliari director Nicola Salerno said there is “no truth” in the reports David Astori is heading for Roma.
The rumours emerged over the last few days that negotiations were at an advanced stage for the defender.
“There is no truth in it, we haven’t even started a negotiation with Walter Sabatini,” director of sport Salerno told asromaradio.it.
“Besides, the transfer market is closed until June, so what are we supposed to be talking about?”
The two clubs already did business in January when Cagliari sold Radja Nainggolan to Roma.
“It took us three months to sort that deal out, so it’s not as if we could close for Astori in half a day. I can assure you this report has no foundation.”
