Fabrizio Miccoli won’t face a sporting punishment for comments he said last year about murdered Italian judge Giovanni Falcone.

The Federal Prosecutor had reported to the Disciplinary Committee Miccoli’s recorded statements made when he was a Palermo player and had asked for a one-match suspension and a €50,000 fine to be imposed on the now-Lecce forward.

However, the Committee has now ruled that the 34-year-old’s words, which included labelling the late Falcone as ‘mud’, do not constitute an action expressed within the sport, so no punishment has been handed down.
