Cagliari’s players will all wear rainbow laces tomorrow after Daniele Dessena was insulted for an anti-homophobia campaign.
Dessena was one of several players who wore the laces last weekend and put a picture of his boots on Twitter, but received abuse online.
Stunned by that response from a few people, the Italian Federation and Cagliari have announced plans to widen the rainbow laces initiative.
All the Sardinian players will wear the laces in Sunday’s game against Udinese, while captain Daniele Conti’s armband will have rainbow colours for the occasion.
Serie A Coaches are also urged to wear rainbow laces this weekend.
