FIGC President Giancarlo Abete has revealed that the Federation are keen to keep Cesare Prandelli as national team Coach.
Rumours have circulated that the Italy boss will step down from his position after the World Cup.
But the chief of the Football Federation has claimed that everyone at the organisation wants the former Fiorentina man to continue his work.
“Prandelli? Let’s hope he stays,” Abete told Sky Sport Italia. “Our position is very clear – after the Spain match, we’ll evaluate whether the continues still exist to carry on.
“We are pleased with Cesare’s work, and not just from a results point of view. I hope he stays, but we have to be respectful of his decision.”
Conversation then moved on Domenico Berardi and Daniele De Rossi’s exclusion from this week’s Azzurri squad for breaking a code of ethics.
“Prandelli applies this in a non-political way. He just wants players to know that they are accountable for their actions.
“It is an independent assessment from the Coach.”
