Sassuolo have confirmed that Eusebio Di Francesco has replaced Alberto Malesani as Coach.

The Neroverdi fired the 44-year-old at the end of January after a poor run of results, but have failed to improve under the former Genoa man.

As such, the Serie B champions have decided to re-hire Di Francesco, just six weeks after initially being given his marching orders.

After winning the ‘Silver Bench’ award this afternoon as the second tier’s best Coach, the ex-Italy international revealed that he was unaware of interest from Sassuolo.

However, in a statement, the Citta del Tricolore outfit have revealed that they have reappointed the one-time Roma midfielder.

“Sassuolo Calcio can announce that we have released Mr Alberto Malesani as Coach of the first team,” it read.

“Mr Malesani deserves thanks for the professionalism and commitment during a difficult stage in the championship.

“The technical guidance of the first team will be entrusted to Mr Eusebio Di Francesco.”
