Sampdoria President Edoardo Garrone believes Sinisa Mihajlovic has the same qualities as legendary Coach Vujadin Boskov.
Mihajlovic was a player at Marassi under Boskov during the Serbian manager’s reign from 1986 to 1992, winning the club’s one and only Scudetto.
“We needed someone like Mihajlovic and I knew he was a tough figure who could change our campaign,” said Garrone at the Cartellino Viola presentation ceremony.
“He is a psychologist like Boskov and knows how to keep the locker room in his grasp. I am holding on tight to him.
“The future? We’ll talk about it, he has a contract until 2015, but there are no options on the deal regarding a renewal.”
Garrone was also asked about the reports Sampdoria will bring in former Milan director Ariedo Braida.
“I can’t talk about that. We’ll discuss it in future, but we couldn’t hire anyone right now anyway.”
