Alessandro Florenzi says if possible, he’d replay Roma’s Coppa Italia Final defeat last May to Lazio, as he reflects on how his team are ‘back on track’.
The Giallorossi were defeated 1-0 by their city rivals in last season’s Cup Final, to mark a disappointing end to the campaign.
However, whilst it is a match Florenzi for one would like to erase if possible, work since then has improved, as he acknowledges.
“I would definitely replay May 26,” responded Florenzi in a Q&A with the AS Roma Membership.
“My reaction was one of disappointment for not having been able to give that little bit extra.
“I was not disappointed for not having played, but for the result, for the fans.
“We were affected, it affected the fans negatively. But, we are back on track and reacted to the big clubs against the odds, with a Coach that nobody knew and perhaps we did not know either.
“He has come in with great humility and is now doing well.
“We want to continue as we are and hopefully we can reach the end of the season with great satisfaction.”
Florenzi was asked about having to play with both Curve at the Stadio Olimpico closed recently.
“It was not easy, you know that with Roma the support is strong, whilst the Nord was also disqualified.
“The fans are important to us, they give us the right support to pull from inside that bit extra, which you need in order to perform.”
The Rome-born 22-year-old was also asked of the chances of one day captaining I Lupi.
“Honestly, I’m not thinking about that now. I think of playing, ahead of me are two legends for Roma in Francesco and Daniele.
“Hopefully I can become captain, but in many years from now, meaning that Francesco and Daniele have given so much. It would be nice to have their career.”
