Parma beat Verona in a head-to-head for sixth place, but Roberto Donadoni isn’t booking his Europa League spot yet.
The Ducali had been level on points with Hellas going into this weekend, but are now on their own following a 2-0 victory.
“We are satisfied with how our season is going and it certainly wasn’t easy today against a quality side,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.
“Verona were in good form and put some pressure on us, but the victory proves we have a fantastic group of players who are all giving their best. We’re in the Europa League places now, but the season doesn’t end now.”
Next week Parma face Milan and, even though Italy international Gabriel Paletta will be suspended, are the Ducali favourites?
“We’ll face an angry Milan side and much of their attitude may well depend on how the Champions League goes with Atletico Madrid.
“In any case, we have to play our own style with great calm and confidence. Are Parma trying to get back to the Tanzi era? That was a completely different situation. We are trying to build a rosy future one step at a time, so we must keep our feet on the ground.”
Antonio Cassano was left out again for Italy’s friendly against Spain, but Donadoni hasn’t given up on seeing him at the World Cup.
“I know Cesare Prandelli and how he thinks, but it’s clear that if Cassano continues to play this way then it’s difficult not to notice. Since January in particular he has found a calm that is really shining through on the field.”
