Pepe Reina admits Napoli’s 1-0 Europa League defeat to Porto was “a bad result, but a fair one.”

The goalkeeper performed some stunning reaction saves and was rescued by the woodwork, but was beaten by Jackson Martinez in the first leg of this Round of 16.

“Porto are a team who move the ball around well and in the first half we waited for them so we could go on the counter,” Reina told Mediaset.

“When we had to ball, though, we didn’t use it well and tended to lose possession too quickly.

“In the second half we had a few chances, though I have to say it is a bad result, but a fair one.”

The Partenopei now need to maintain their 100 per cent home record in Europe this season to progress to the quarter-finals.

“We need a different Napoli in the second leg. The fans will be by our side and we’ll give our best to go forward.”
