Leeds United manager Brian McDermott says the prospect of Massimo Cellino buying the Yorkshire club could make it a historic week at Elland Road.
The Football League are due to make a final decision as to whether the proposed takeover can go ahead this week.
“I have my opinion,” McDermott told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“I must say that Massimo knows his football. He knows what we need and he has always shown himself to be encouraging from what I have seen.
“I am grateful to him for this.
“We have spoken to each to each other several times and it has always been productive.
“As far as I see it, the coming week could be one of the most important in our history.
“It’s important that the right decision is made.”
