Livorno Coach Mimmo Di Carlo says his side’s 3-1 defeat to Torino was in no way down to a lack of effort.

The Amaranto were unable to cope with Granata strike pair Alessio Cerci and Ciro Immobile, who hit a hat-trick, at Stadio Olimpico.

“It was not a defeat linked to lack of effort,” Di Carlo told journalists at his post-match Press conference. “But we should have been more productive and quicker when we had the ball.

“The players ran a lot but a lot of the time that was down to Torino not allowing us to keep possession. They were the better team.

“It was a bad evening but Torino are a strong team and Cerci and Immobile are difficult to contain.

“We need to start again now and look to impose our game in the opposition in the next match.”
