Genoa Coach Gian Piero Gasperini says he believes in his team to do well in the long term despite having numerous absentees currently.

The Gialloblu face Lazio tomorrow evening on a run of three games without a win, though they are safely ensconced in mid-table.

“We are in a bit of difficulty owing to the numerous absences we have,” Gasperini said at his pre-match Press conference.

“Burdisso is an important player and a very special person. The boost he gives the team, both on the pitch and in the dressing room, is pivotal.

“Lazio are doing all they can to reach Europe so for us this match will be a real test to show what areas we need to improve.

“I strongly believe in the evolution of this team and I am convinced we can go far.

“The absence of Matuzalem tomorrow will be a great chance for the younger players to show me what they can do.”
