Vincenzo Montella confirmed Fiorentina “have been tracking Giacomo Bonaventura for some time” and Atalanta realise “it’s impossible to keep him.”

The midfielder bagged a brace in Atalanta’s 2-1 victory over Inter at San Siro on Sunday afternoon and is expected to be in Italy’s World Cup party.

“Bonaventura? He is an interesting player we have been tracking for some time,” said Fiorentina Coach Montella when asked about him in today’s Press conference.

“He did very well on Sunday with those two goals.”

Other sides have been linked with ‘Jack’ Bonaventura, including Inter, Juventus and Roma, so a summer departure seems inevitable.

“He only missed the goals, as he already had everything required to become a star,” commented Atalanta director general Pierpaolo Marino in Tuttosport.

“Stefano Colantuono has helped him to grow tactically and in terms of character. We know that it’s practically impossible to keep him, especially if he goes to the World Cup.

“We have had many requests, important ones, last summer and resisted. It’s still early to say which club he could end up in, but we are certainly starting to get signs…”
