A report in Brazil suggests that the Italian Football Federation have looked into the possibility of calling up Inter full-back Jonathan.
The Brazilian-born defender has seen improved form for the Nerazzurri this term raise media debate over a possible call-up to Cesare Prandelli’s squad for the World Cup this summer.
On from the player’s encouragement at such rumours comes a report this week from Globoesporte, which suggests the FIGC have already looked into the possibility.
Whilst no legal process to make official the intention has begun, it is understood that the Italian Federation has ‘probed the ground for a possible call-up’.
The 28-year-old holds duel Italian citizenship and has not been capped at any level by the Selecao.
