The President of the Italian Olympic Committee is “favourable to using technology in football, but we’ve got to get on with it.”
Several different systems have been tested in the sport, above all goal-line technology to ascertain whether the ball has completely crossed the line.
In Italy there are also growing calls for video evidence to be used during a match situation for handling offences, offsides and off the ball incidents.
“I have always been favourable to using technology in football, but then I am one of many people expressing my opinion,” said CONI President Giovanni Malagò.
“It’s not my decision to make and objectively neither can the Presidents of the Lega Serie A and Federation.
“We’ve got to get on with it, because there’s no point waiting for manna for heaven. I have the sensation that’s not going to arrive.”
