Now however he will miss Monday’s trip to Genoa and will probably also be absent for the home match with Catania next weekend.

“A.C. Milan announces that Michael Essien has sustained an injury to the semimembranosus of his right thigh,” a statement on the club’s website reads.

“The player will undergo further examination in around ten days’ time.”
