Cristian Chivu has conceded that it was ‘tough to say goodbye’ to Inter after having his contract rescinded this week.

After two years of injury battles, the Nerazzurri confirmed earlier this week that the defender was to leave the club by mutual consent.

But the former Romania international has admitted that it was a tough decision to make.

“I will go to Miami after May for a new challenge,” he told Dolce Sport.

“I’m sure everything will be fine once I’ve settled.

“It was hard to say goodbye to everyone at Inter – it’s difficult to think I’m retiring at 33.

“But right now I just want to relax and let everything calm down.”
