Massimo Cellino has won his appeal against the Football League, so will be allowed to buy Leeds United.

The Cagliari President had failed the Fit and Proper Person test due to a conviction for tax fraud in Italy.

However, he argued it was only the first grade in the Italian justice system – “like warming up” – and he has two more courts to go through before the sentence can be considered definitive.

According to his lawyers this afternoon, Cellino’s appeal has been successful and he can now take control of the club.

He had agreed the takeover from GFH in February and bankrolled the club for two months before failing the Football League’s test.

Cellino gave a rambling interview with Sky Sports News this week, covering the situation and his plans for the future.
