Christian Abbiati said Milan have “showed our worth” after a third consecutive victory away to Genoa.

The goalkeeper scored an own goal, as Marco Motta’s volley ricocheted off the bar and in off the back of his foot, but Adel Taarabt and Keisuke Honda still secured a 2-1 win.

“If the opposition fans insult me, then it means I played well!” laughed Abbiati on Sky Sport Italia straight after the final whistle.

“It was a difficult game in a tough arena against a very good team, but we got the victory.

“The important thing is to win and to play well. We saw a great side today that showed its worth over the last four games, although it’s a very difficult time of the season and we are so far off the top teams.

“We are getting to know Clarence Seedorf’s methods, but there’s still a long way to go.”
