Former Inter, Parma and Fiorentina striker Adriano has terminated his contract with Atletico Paranaense after two months.

The troubled Brazilian forward was one of the most promising players in world football, but lost his way amid problems with depression and alcohol.

L’Imperatore had tried to make a new step in his career by signing for Atletico Paranaense on January 6, scoring one goal in three Copa Libertadores games.

However, he skipped two training sessions and was pictured at a nightclub late Thursday night.

The club had a meeting with the 32-year-old and they have terminated the contract by mutual agreement.

“I am grateful to Atletico for giving me the chance to play again. It’s a shame about the way it ended, but I want to continue doing what I love the most: playing football.”

Since leaving Roma in March 2011, Adriano has had very brief spells at Corinthians, Flamengo and Atletico Paranaense, but never completed his contracts.
