Fiorentina goalkeeper Norberto Neto says that players in his position come under the same level of scrutiny as referees.
The Brazilian himself overcame criticism earlier on this season to establish himself as the Viola’s number one.
“I’ve had the fortune to play for a team that a lot of children at school support,” Neto is quoted as saying on the Florence side’s official website.
“I signed up for university initially, but then I had to put that to one side to focus on my football career.
“I think I am an honest person, sometimes too much so, but that was the way I was brought up.
“The role of a goalkeeper? Everyone scrutinises them, they’re like referees. But that’s normal.
“When you play in important Leagues there will always be critics, but since I was young I have always tried not to set too much store by them.”
