Castan: 'Follow Garcia into battle'

Roma defender Leandro Castan hailed Coach Rudi Garcia. “We’d follow him into battle. He revitalised players who were considered poor.”

The Brazilian centre-back spoke to Sky Sport Italia on the transformation that Garcia brought to the club.

“He brought serenity and confidence to revitalise players who were considered poor last season, who many thought weren’t good enough to play for Roma. He put confidence in us and showed the true quality in this squad.

“Garcia is a Coach who wants to do well and we are with him right to the end. We’d follow him into battle.”

Castan was asked about reports Miralem Pjanic could be on the market this summer, despite the Giallorossi securing their spot in the Champions League group phase.

“I think he will stay and I am certainly hoping he will. He has seen we can do well and if all the players remain, plus a few more to help us, we can do even better next season.

“Pjanic is a friend and a great player. It’s very important to have him with us.”
