Christian Maggio has been given the all-clear to return to action from the Napoli-Fiorentina Coppa Italia Final.

The right-back was ruled out on March 14 when he underwent emergency surgery for a collapsed lung, having suffered breathing difficulties on the flight back from a Europa League game in Portugal.

As it was such a serious medical condition, Maggio needed the all-clear from a panel of experts at the CONI (Italian Olympic Committee) before he could be passed fit for competitive action.

Those tests were performed in Rome today and Maggio was given the paperwork needed to get back on the field.

It means he will be available for Saturday’s Coppa Italia Final against Fiorentina.
