Milan President Silvio Berlusconi has called for a return to the days when Serie A clubs were obliged to have a certain number of Italians in their squads.

The 77-year-old was asked by Italia7 for comment on the recent Coppa Italia final but admitted he had not watched the match.

“I confess I did not see the Coppa Italia final between Napoli and Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”9″>Fiorentina, though I did see what happened before the match,” Berlusconi said.

“As far as the match goes, I will say that it made me think about the fact that there was only one Italian out on the pitch.

“It was the Coppa Italia final, yet when I saw the two line-ups I noticed that everyone else was foreign.

“I think it was better when there was a set number of Italian players that every team had to have in their squads.”
