Reports in Portugal indicate that Inter have made contact with Benfica for playmaker Nicolas Gaitan.
The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a switch away from the Lisbon outfit, with Liverpool and Manchester United thought to be interested.
But newspaper Record claim that the Nerazzurri have been in touch with the Liga champions about a potential deal.
It is thought that Benfica would be willing to let the Argentine attacker leave, but only for a fee of around €25m.
Gaitan has been a constant figure in the Aguias XI this season, scoring four in 26 appearances.
