Verona boss Andrea Mandorlini has claimed that he will stay at the club if Luca Toni extends his contract.

The veteran goalscorer has netted 20 times this season for the Gialloblu, including one in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Udinese.

And the Coach has insisted that he will stay, but only if the club give the former Italy international a new deal.

“This has been a great season for us,” he told Radio Sport. “No one would have expected this from us.

“And one of the main protagonists has been Toni. His 20 goals have been vital, and hopefully he stays with us.

“If he signs, then I’ll renew myself.”

Mandorlini then commented on the fight for a Europa League place, which is between themselves, Parma, Torino, Milan and Lazio” data-scaytid=”16″>Lazio with just one game left.

“The spot is open to so many teams. We know it’s going to be a real challenge for us, but I think the favourites have to be Parma.

“We’re going to Naples next weekend looking for a win, and hoping that our rivals lose.

“We don’t have a lot of hope, but given what happened yesterday, who knows what will happen.”
