Christian Maggio will “work to convince” Cesare Prandelli he can play the World Cup after surgery for a collapsed lung.
The Napoli right-back had been out of action since February when a blow to the torso became a collapsed lung following the flight back from a Europa League game in Portugal.
He only made his comeback at the weekend in Napoli’s 5-2 Serie A victory over Sampdoria.
“Christian’s inclusion in Prandelli’s squad of 30 is obviously very important news and I see it as the crowning moment for all the lad’s hard work,” agent Massimo Briaschi told Tuttomercatoweb.
“Christian is coming off a very serious injury and the fact Prandelli called him makes us both very enthusiastic.
“The objective is to be in the final list of 23. Maggio will work to convince Prandelli he can go to Brazil.”
