Verona have released an official statement to congratulate Serie A rivals Parma for pipping them to a Europa League place.
The Scaligeri enjoyed an excellent first season back in Italy’s top flight and were in the running for continental qualification until the final match of the campaign.
However, Andrea Mandorlini’s side were beaten 5-1 by Napoli at San Paolo, while Parma beat Livorno 2-0 to seal sixth place ahead of Milan, Torino and the Veneto outfit.
“Hellas Verona FC, on behalf of President Maurizio Setti, the directors and all of the team, would like to congratulate Parma FC for their achievement of qualifying for the Europa League,” the statement on the club's website reads.
“It is an extraordinary and deserved result for a team who managed to reach its target after a fight to the end with our boys and Torino FC.
“We wish Parma FC all the best in representing Italy in European competition.”
