Claudio Ranieri is no longer the Coach of French runners-up Monaco, announced the Ligue 1 club.

They finished second to Paris Saint-Germain in the tournament this season, having taken over two years ago when Monaco were still in Ligue 2.

“I confirm that Claudio Ranieri is leaving soon. We decided to break up. I would like to pay tribute to Ranieri, who did a good job,” Monaco Vice-President Vadim Vasilyev declared today.

“It is never easy to take a club from Ligue 2 to the Champions League. But we believe that at this stage we need a new dynamic.

“It was a difficult decision, but normal when the results are not what you expected.”

It is widely believed current Sporting Lisbon boss Leonardo Jardim will take over.
