FIGC President Giancarlo Abete has branded the behaviour of the individuals responsible for racist chanting aimed at Mario Balotelli as ‘unacceptable.’

The reported incident took place this morning as Italy continued their preparations for the World Cup finals at Coverciano in a training session.

However, the Italian football chief also said it must be taken into account that only a small number of people were involved in shouting the insults.

“It’s unacceptable behaviour on the part of certain people,” Abate told reporters. “They shouldn’t have been there. But we have to put it into context.

“I have read the news from the agency but I don’t have any other information. The important thing is that there were only a few people involved.”
