Dejan Stankovic hopes Inter can be revived, but admits he won’t work with Walter Mazzarri. “We have different visions of football.”

The former midfielder has retired, but unlike Javier Zanetti will not be joining the backroom staff.

“I gave my contribution. Perhaps the Coach has a different vision of football, as his ideal is Luiz Gustavo,” the Serbian told Sky Sport Italia.

“The most important thing is for the club to get back to a high level. In football as in life, there are highs and lows, eras that begin and end.

“Inter say goodbye to four of my friends, but form a new team that will take time and trust for their reconstruction.”

Stankovic has started a charity foundation to help the people of Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia affected by devastating floods.

“Entire villages disappeared and people have been left with nothing. I want to move from words to action. Inter already reacted by putting the bank details on the official website for donations.

“I am personally within this foundation and can assure everybody who wants to help that each Euro will go to the right place.”

Among those who recently contributed to the cause are Miralem Pjanic, who was photographed buying up the entire stock of a chemist to donate, and his Roma teammate Adem Ljajic.
