Reports persist that Rafa Benitez has called Javier Mascherano to propose a Napoli move, but he could become Barcelona captain.
Since Benitez first arrived at the Stadio San Paolo, there have been rumours he wanted a reunion with his old Liverpool midfielder Mascherano.
There are continuing suggestions in various news sources that the Coach is increasing the pressure going into this summer.
“Benitez would like Mascherano and he’s evaluating different options to try signing him,” agent Bernardo Brovarone is quoted as telling Radio CRC.
“Why does he want to leave Barcelona? The club told him he won't play in the middle of the park, so when choosing his next destination, that will be a fundamental thing.”
However, today new Barcelona Coach Luis Enrique took over and singled out Mascherano in his Press conference.
“Mascherano is an example of someone with the necessary character to be the captain. Good and important players will stay at the club.”
