Inter have reportedly reached an agreement in principle with midfielder Valon Behrami to sign him this summer from Napoli.
The Switzerland international was a regular during the opening months of last season under Rafa Benitez, but injury and the January arrival of Jorginho saw the 29-year-old’s first-team opportunities decline.
Speculation has since followed that he could be on his way out this summer, with Inter having been listed on more than one occasion as an interested party.
The Corriere dello Sport report today that this interest has actually already led to talks with the player and that a principle agreement on a three-year contract paying a salary of €1.8m has been agreed.
That would represent a €500,000-a-season pay-rise for the former Fiorentina man.
However, there remains a gap between what the Nerazzurri are seen as willing to pay Napoli to sign Behrami - between €5m and €6m - and what the Vesuviani are hoping to raise with his sale - €8m, the same fee they paid out on him two years ago.
