Lazio sporting director Igli Tare says Coach Edy Reja should be given more respect amid speculation he will lose his job.
The veteran tactician took over the Biancocelesti in January and, while he oversaw an improvement in results, he was unable to lead them to Europa League qualification.
This has led to reports that President Claudio Lotito is looking to replace him but, speaking to LazioNews24, Tare insisted Reja had done well during the last months of the season and that he deserves to be taken into consideration moving forward.
“Both ourselves and Reja, just as after every season we have together, will have to sit down around a table and outline what the plans are moving forward," Tare said.
“There is speculation going around about other Coaches. We have a Coach like Reja who deserves to be taken into consideration. He deserves respect.
“The club has started a period of transition in terms of the age of our team and our planning. It’s these things we need to all understand if we are to move forward together.
“If we assess the work done by Reja in recent months, there is nothing that needs saying.
“Europa League? Yes, it was a target. But by missing out on qualification his position has not become untenable.
“Our assessment will be thorough. I want a Lazio determined and capable of giving joy to the fans.”
