Alberto Aquilani’s agent says his client is happy with Fiorentina and that there is no rush for him to sign a new contract.
The 29-year-old currently has just one year left remaining on his current Viola deal, prompting speculation linking him with a move away from the Artemio Franchi.
However, speaking to FirenzeViola.it, Franco Zavaglia insisted the player will be staying in Florence and that there remains plenty of time for a contract extension to be agreed.
“No. There are no new developments on Aquilani’s renewal with Fiorentina,” Zavaglia said. “In football there is this attitude to want to renew contracts with great haste but for the moment, there is no rush for my client.
“The player is relaxed, his contract with Fiorentina expires in June 2015, so there will be all the time needed to be able to talk about an eventual renewal.
“He is happy in Florence. He has no intention of finding any other destination in this transfer market. He is happy with Fiorentina.
“He is ready to discuss his future, and above all else he is ready to discuss the lengthening of his contract.”
