Chile boss Jorge Sampaoli has admitted his surprise at how quick Arturo Vidal has recovered from a knee injury.
The Juventus midfielder went under the knife at the start of May to fix a recurrent knee problem, but has returned already to make the South American country’s 23-man squad for the World Cup.
“Vidal is a footballer who is so far above average in terms of physical and mental capacity,” the Coach told reporters.
“His recovery has surprised me. He’s already working with the ball despite the operation.
“But it’ll be up to the coaching staff to decide whether he plays straight away.”
