Feyenoord’s sporting director has claimed that they have turned down an offer from an ‘Italian club’ for Stefan De Vrij.
Lazio are widely reported to be interested in signing the Netherlands international, but the Eredivisie side’s board member has insisted that they have rejected all advances for the centre-back.
“Lately there has been a lot of confusion in the media,” Martin Van Geel told their official website.
“We regret these rumours as some fans have been restless. An Italian club has made an offer, which we considered inappropriate.
“After that, despite the rumours, there has been no further contact. We don’t want to sell, but we’re aware that some players may want to leave.”
