Lille midfielder Rio Mavuba has admitted that he would love the chance to reunite with Rudi Garcia.
The 30-year-old was Garcia’s captain when he was in charge at the Ligue 1 club, but having moved to coach Roma, the France international has conceded that he couldn’t turn down a move to play under his old boss.
“I have a special relationship with Rudi Garcia,” he told Corriere dello Sport.
“He picked me as captain for Lille, so he’ll always be special to me.
“He’s an exceptional person and is a great lover of the sport – that is really infectious.
“I was surprised when he went to Roma, but he’s showed his quality there. If Roma maintain the group they have now then I’m sure they can do well in the Champions League next year.
“I could never say no to Garcia if he wanted me to come to Roma. Although, there haven’t been any offers at the moment.”
