Marco Verratti is expected to be fit and ready to face England in Italy’s opening World Cup game on Saturday.
The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder skipped training today after suffering from flu symptoms and a fever.
According to Sky Sport Italia’s latest report from the training camp, Verratti is doing better and should resume full training tomorrow.
It’s possible Verratti could well be in the starting XI against England in Manaus alongside Andrea Pirlo, as the new midfield system was tested out against Luxembourg.
It was particularly unwise for Verratti to train today, as Italy's camp was hit by heavy rain.
