Arturo Vidal will not be cut from Chile’s World Cup squad, despite the midfielder not being 100 per cent fit.
The 27-year-old went under the knife last month for meniscus damage in his knee, and the Juventus man has yet to fully recover for the national team.
However, the South American nation’s assistant manager has insisted that Vidal will be kept in Brazil, whatever happens.
“Arturo is a unique player,” Sebastian Beccacece told Tuttosport. “He performs two roles in one – one moment he’s a midfielder, and the next he’s an extra striker.
“He moves continuously across the pitch and doesn’t give his opposite number a moments’ peace.
“The idea we have for Arturo is very similar to what he does at Juve.
“Vidal to be cut at the last minute? That topic has never been raised here.”
