The Napoli striker has emerged as the Catalan club’s reputed second choice reinforcement for their front-line this summer, if a move for Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero does not materialise.

Whilst his current club have issued an official denial on the matter, the striker has now encouraged talk of a possible link-up at club level with Lionel Messi.

“Obviously I enjoy playing at his side, as is the case with the national team,” Italian outlets say Higuain has told Spanish media, after last night’s 2-1 win for Argentina over Bosnia, during which he played a one-two with Messi for the No 10’s winning goal.

“The interest from Barcelona? It’s nice, but it would make any player happy.

“Now I think about the World Cup, we want to prove that we can win the Cup. I will talk some other time about my future.”
