There are reports in Portuguese media that Cristiano Ronaldo could miss the rest of the World Cup.
The Ballon d’Or winner limped off during today’s training session and applied an ice pack to his left knee.
Ronaldo has been suffering from tendinosis problems in his knee for some time and had already been in doubt for the 4-0 defeat to Germany on Monday.
Portugal need a victory in their next Group G encounter with the USA on Sunday, or risk crashing out of the tournament.
However, some of the reports suggest Ronaldo’s World Cup could be over regardless of results due to this knee injury.
It’s another blow for Portugal, who have already lost Fabio Coentrao for the competition and Pepe will probably be suspended for three games.
