Lorenzo Insigne believes Italy “did well to avoid conceding another” after their 1-0 defeat to Costa Rica.

“There wasn’t that much pressure on us, but it was an important game that could’ve given us qualification already,” the Napoli talent told Sky Sport Italia.

“It was tough from the bench and on the field, as Costa Rica played well and we fought to the end in order to get a result.

“Costa Rica were more relaxed, but we did well to avoid conceding another on the counter-attack, as it can happen in those situations.”

The Azzurri can still qualify with a draw against Uruguay and could even top the group on goal difference if Costa Rica lose to already-eliminated England.

“Now we have to prepare for Uruguay, as that is a fundamental match. It’s in or out.”
