Mexico Coach Miguel Herrera described his team’s 3-1 win over Croatia as one of the happiest days of his life.
The North Americans turned in an excellent performance to beat their European opponents, sealing a place in the World Cup Last 16 in the process.
“It seems not, we were not trembling at the knees,” Herrera said in response to Croatia counterpart Niko Kovac’s claims pre-match that Mexico would show signs of nervousness.
“It seems to me that you don’t have to talk, you have to do your talking on the pitch and these boys did it very well.
“It’s one of the happiest days in my life. Today is a very happy day and there are still even happier days to come.”
