Napoli’s Dries Mertens has pleaded with Pepe Reina to sign permanently for the Partenopei.
The goalkeeper spent last season on loan at San Paolo from Liverpool but his long term future now remains unclear following his return to his parent club.
The shot-stopper played the full 90 minutes of Spain’s World Cup win over Australia yesterday and, in the aftermath, Belgian Mertens took to Twitter to congratulate his teammate.
“Well played Reina, congratulations!” he wrote. “Now make me happy and start negotiating a new contract with Napoli.”
