Jose Luis Pinto was “very satisfied” with Costa Rica’s performance against England, as they won Group D.
A 0-0 draw proved enough to secure qualification in top spot, setting up a Last 16 encounter with Greece.
“We are very satisfied, as England are one of the most important teams in the world,” said Coach Pinto.
“They are real champions and we knew it was going to be a difficult game. It was a balanced match and we managed to get a point.
“We proved that we can play good football and that makes me proud.”
Costa Rica move through the World Cup with seven points from three games, having beaten both Uruguay and Italy.
