Ciro Immobile believes the experience of playing in a World Cup will stand him in good stead, but is sad at the way it ended.
The forward started up front alongside Mario Balotelli during Italy’s 1-0 defeat to Uruguay on Tuesday, a result which sent the Azzurri crashing out of the competition at the Group Stage.
“The World Cup is an experience that has enriched me and will help me grow,” Immobile told Rai. “It’s a shame it finished how it did.”
The 24-year-old also commented on his recent club move to German side Borussia Dortmund, as well as the recent death of Napoli fan Ciro Esposito.
“Going to Germany was the right choice, because I am looking to improve and have new experiences.
“It will do me good to go abroad.
“They told us about the death of Esposito shortly before the match against Uruguay. It is news that saddened us and that is unpleasant.”
